Tinder's new identity: a fictional columnist, new colours and a bold wordmark

In July 2026 Tinder unveiled a new identity by New York studio Porto Rocha. According to Creative Review, it is the brand's first major identity refresh in nearly a decade, aimed at a new generation and a changing dating landscape.

What changed?

  • Voice: A fictional dating columnist called "T" sets the tone, described as wise, experienced and open to everything. The team cites Carrie Bradshaw among its inspirations.
  • Wordmark: A bolder, all-caps logotype in a strong sans serif.
  • Colour: Blue and green join the red-to-pink gradient.
  • Flame icon: Redrawn sleeker and sharper.
  • Imagery: Real couples, metaphors, repurposed cultural symbols and mixed media.

Building identity through voice

The most striking part is building identity around a character. A fictional writer gives the brand a consistent point of view and makes it easier for teams to answer "how does the brand speak?" the same way every time.

Smaller brands can do the same. Think of your brand as a person: how does it talk, what makes it laugh, which words would it never use? Written answers to these questions are as strong an identity asset as a logo.
